    What happens when the house has a ridge board or ridge pole?
    The house in the video does not appear to have one. Most of our construction has a 2×8 or 2×10 ridge that the rafters hang off.

    Is this cut better made from an aerial or bucket? Seems like the family jewels are in a precarious position from the video.

    Hey Dave, one of the main ideas with all vetical ventilation is to TRY to leave structural members in place as much as possible. Just like cutting a 4X4 hole you would pull the blade out when you go over the rafters the same would happen for this.
    I always thought if you keep the jewels near the job you pay closer attention. Another option might be to work from a roof ladder.

    I understand what you are saying with the rafters, but if you didn’t cut through the ridge pole, then you wouldn’t be able to push it in like they did in the video. So I am thinking it is more of a truss roof tool for the tool box.

    I’m with you. It would take a bit more to push it through with the ridge pole in the way.
